Construction Update: d'Orsay at 211 West 14th Street
South façade.
Superstructure has topped out at the d'Orsay, a 11-story condo building at the boundary of the Chelsea and West Village neighborhoods. The 21-unit condo building is developed by Adellco and designed by Hill West Architects.
Work on the exterior façade has begun with brick piers installed on the lower floors. The façade design includes red, patterned brick and large, industrial-styled windows with black metal frames and intermediary mullions. The selected materials are meant to tie the building in to the industrial heritage of the neighborhood as a one-time manufacturing center turned cultural hub in part thanks to the nearby art galleries and the High Line.

The 21 condo units range in size from one- to four-bedrooms. A full floor penthouse unit at the 11th floor features 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and two outdoor terraces. The 1,040 square foot rooftop terrace offers an outdoor kitchen and panoramic views of the city.

111 Murray Street
Northwest corner.
Construction progress continues at 111 Murray Street, the 64-story residential tower from developers Fisher Brothers, Witkoff, and New Valley. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the 792-foot-tall tower features a curved form that flares outward as it rises. The tower has surpassed the half way mark for height, as concrete superstructure reaches the 36th floor.
The exterior of the tower will be sheathed in a glass curtain wall, with curved glass panels at the northwest and southeast corners. Installation of the curtain wall has now reached the 15th floor.

Inside, the tower will offer 157 residential condominium units ranging from one to five-bedrooms, with two full-floor penthouses at the tower's crown. Design of the residential units is helmed by David Mann of MR Architecture + Décor, while Rockwell Group is in charge of the more than 20,000-square-feet of amenities. Along with a patisserie, lounge, grand private dining room, spa and fitness center, residents will also have access to a 75 foot lap pool and 25 foot splash pool.

One West End
Superstructure continues to rise and curtain wall installation is ongoing at Riverside Center's One West End tower from Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects.
Superstructure is close to topping out at One West End, the Elad Group and Silverstein Properties' 42-story tower within the Riverside Center development. With only a few floors left to pour, the Pelli Clarke Pelli tower has started to reveal its final appearance as the limestone facade of the podium wraps up and the glass curtain wall of the tower reaches the lower seven floors. Also starting to take shape is the steel structure for the cantilevered atrium that protrudes out of the podium onto 11th Avenue. A pool for the residents will be housed inside the completed structure. The project is the first residential condo tower of the Riverside Center development and will offer 246 units, as well as an attached affordable building with separate entrance that has been widely discussed in the press as the "poor door."
Completion is slated for some time in 20147.

Riverside Center
Progress continues at SLCE's 21 West End Avenue, the first tower of the 5-site megaproject, known as Riverside Center, on the far west side of Manhattan. Structure has surpassed the half way mark for the 43-story, 616-unit rental tower and curtain wall installation has begun on the smaller appendage off the main tower. The façade is composed of a fairly generic curtain wall system and tan opaque panels. Installation of the opaque cladding for the podium floors, future home to PS/IS 342M, has also begun. Offering Pre-K through 8th grade, the new public school will serve approximately 488 students in over 20 classrooms spread across four floors. Classes are expected to start by 2018.
Work has yet to reach above ground on the other four sites in the mega project. Next up should be One West End, a 41-story, 366-unit tower to the south of the first site under construction. This is the much debated "poor door" building with a separate entrance for its 118 affordable units. According to its teaser site, the building has been designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli, not Christian de Portzamparc, as has been reported elsewhere. Though it has lost the design direction of the Pritzker prize winner, it does appear to be an upgrade in aesthetics over its neighbor to the north.
The remaining three sites will be carried out by Goldstein Hill & West, thus completely eliminating Portzamparc from the actual execution of his master plan. With the completion of the final three towers, Riverside Center will contain 2,500 units.

One Riverside Park & Riverside Center
Development is heating up along the waterfront of the Far West Side with major projects like Riverside Center just starting earlier this year, while others, like Riverside South are heading into the final stretch as One Riverside Park wraps up.
At One Riverside Park, the 35 story, 219-unit condo tower has a significant portion of its limestone and glass façade installed and looks to be headed for completion early next year.

The neighboring development of Riverside Center, with five buildings and approximately 2,500 apartments, has started to pick up steam. Building 2 by SLCE Architects, a 616-unit tower with a Pre-K through 8 grade school designed by Dattner Architects at the base, is now up to the fourth floor.
